YouTube vs. Cold Calling for Real Estate Agents: Which Gets Better Leads?

If you are a real estate agent, I have some very good news for you.
You don't need to spend your days cold calling strangers to find new clients.
It's almost 2027, but so much real estate marketing advice still feels like we're living pre-internet.
The reality is that making simple YouTube videos is a much better way to attract potential buyers and sellers than cold calling or door knocking.
You don't need expensive equipment, fancy editing, or thousands of subscribers.
I'll explain why YouTube beats cold calling and show you how to turn your videos into booked appointments using Podsplice.
I also made this video showing exactly what I'm talking about.
1. Why Cold Calling Sucks for Real Estate Agents
Think about what you're actually doing when you cold call someone.
You're interrupting a complete stranger in the middle of their day.
"Hi, I'm a real estate agent in your area. Have you thought about selling your home? A house near you just sold for..."
Blah, blah, blah.
Of course people hang up on you. They didn't ask you to call!
Here are some of the biggest problems with cold calling:
Constant rejection. Most people don't want to talk to you.
No trust. They don't know who you are.
You're competing with other agents. You're probably not the first agent to call them.
It doesn't scale well. You can only make so many calls each day.
You start over tomorrow. Yesterday's calls don't create an audience that keeps finding you.
It's mentally exhausting. Nobody enjoys being rejected all day.
Look, cold calling is better than doing absolutely nothing.
But there's a much better and easier way to spend your time.
2. Why YouTube Is Better Than Cold Calling
Here's the biggest difference.
With cold calling, you're chasing people who probably don't want to talk to you. With YouTube, interested people find you.
Imagine someone is thinking about moving to Chicago.
They go to YouTube and search for the best neighborhoods for young families.
They discover your video.
You're a local real estate agent explaining the different neighborhoods, schools, parks, and home prices.
They watch a few more of your videos.
Now they know who you are. They've seen your face, heard you speak, and learned something useful from you.
And when they're ready to speak with an agent, who do you think they'll consider calling?
It's not hard to figure out.
3. What YouTube Videos Should Real Estate Agents Make?
Let's go back to our Chicago example.
Imagine you're a real estate agent named Mike.
You want to attract people who are thinking about buying a home in Chicago.
Here are some videos you could make:
Best Chicago Neighborhoods for Young Families
Where I'd Buy a Home in Chicago for $600,000
5 Underrated Chicago Neighborhoods
Moving to Chicago? 7 Things You Should Know
Best Chicago Neighborhoods for Parks and Schools
Safest Neighborhoods in Chicago
My 5 Favorite Places to Live in Chicago
You could make hundreds of videos like these.
And they're surprisingly easy to create.
Just sit in front of your computer, turn on your webcam, and talk about what you know.
You can even share your screen to show neighborhood information, images, or other useful material you have permission to use.
I use Podsplice to record my webcam, microphone, and screen directly in my browser.
No complicated software or expensive setup.

4. How to Turn YouTube Viewers Into Booked Appointments
Now here's where things get really interesting.
You don't just want people watching your videos. You want potential clients booking appointments with you.
With Podsplice Pods, you can create your own personalized landing page with a qualifying quiz and booking calendar.
I made an example for Mike, our fictional Chicago real estate agent.

Try Mike's example booking page here.
You can answer questions like:
What's your budget for buying a home?
Are you currently living in Chicago?
What type of property are you looking for?
When are you planning to buy?
Then you can select an available time to book a call. Mike's example calendar is just a demonstration, so it won't actually book an appointment.
For your own real estate business, you simply put your Pod link in your YouTube video descriptions and pinned comments.
Now imagine getting an email that someone has booked a 15-minute consultation with you.
You already know their name, budget, and what they're looking for.
And they've already watched your videos!
That's a very different conversation from cold calling a complete stranger.
You can set up your own Pod in about 5–10 minutes.
I have my own booking page where real estate agents book one-on-one coaching calls with me. I help them set up their entire 90-day plan to dominate on YouTube for their specific real estate niche.
5. Make 50 YouTube Videos Instead of Hundreds of Cold Calls
Here's something else to think about.
When you make a cold call, that call is over in a few minutes.
But when you make a useful YouTube video, people can continue discovering it for months or even years.
Imagine having 50 videos about different Chicago neighborhoods, home prices, schools, and local attractions.
Each video is like a little sales agent working for you.
And you don't need millions of views. You need the right people watching.
A video with 100 views from people seriously considering buying a home in Chicago could be worth far more than 10,000 views from people who will never buy there.
Podsplice can also turn your longer videos into Shorts, add subtitles, and publish them directly to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
One recording can give you content for multiple platforms.
And if you run out of video ideas, use ChatGPT to brainstorm more topics about your city and real estate niche.
I wouldn't have AI make the actual videos for you. Your local knowledge and personality are what make the videos valuable.
Forget about spending your afternoons cold calling, knocking on doors, joining book clubs, or playing pickleball just to meet potential clients.
Play pickleball because you enjoy pickleball!
Don't play pickleball or go Salsa dancing because you think those people will want you to be their real estate agent.
Make useful videos so that potential clients can find you when they're actually looking for a real estate agent.
